Johnson in the Community
At Johnson, we think community involvement is pretty important and we always have. Quietly and without great fanfare, we've been supporting communities across Canada because we believe that it's the right thing to do. We carry on the values originally instilled by our founder, Percie Johnson - to have great concern for the wellbeing of others. That's why we contribute to the towns and cities where our customers and employees live. Here's just a few examples of how we lend a hand:
- We believe higher education is key to the development of communities across the country. Our annual scholarship program provides 100 students across Canada with scholarships valued at $1,500 each.
- In July 2008, we donated $25,000 to support a sport and recreation centre in Newfoundland and Labrador. Our donation helped build a multi-purpose facility in the centre of St. John's which will support the development of athletes and coaches from every sport in the province.
- In December 2009, employees brought the true meaning of the festive season to several needy families. Departments rallied together and participated in "Christmas For Kids," purchasing winter necessities, such as coats and boots, grocery gift certificates and special gifts to make the holidays memorable.
With more than 64 locations across the country, Johnson employees are supporting local events and organizations from St. John's to Vancouver.
