A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) (also known as a serial number) is a 17 character code of letters and numbers that identifies your vehicle. You can find your VIN in several places:
On top of the dashboard on the driver’s side
Inside the driver’s side door
On forms such as your bill of sale, registration card, and/or vehicle permit
When you are entering your VIN, keep in mind the following:
A VIN never has the letters I, O, or Q
The last five characters will always be numbers
Some characters may look similar, such as: S & 5, D & 0, B & 8, G & 6, U & V, Z & 2
All customers may contact us by chat or phone. Please indicate your policy number, as well as your newly acquired vehicle's VIN, and the name and address of the company handling your lease or financing (if applicable).
The option to purchase $2 million in Third Party Liability Coverage is an excellent choice available to protect you and your family against the cost of damages you may be liable for. For instance, if you are covered for $1 million liability, and if there is a settlement against you for more than $1 million, your insurance will only cover $1 million of the settlement - you'll be responsible for any additional amount.

This is an optional cover that is available in most areas subject to eligibility.
Yes. You may want home, condo, tenant, cottage or rental insurance. There are different types of cover available in each category. There are also "add-on" features, depending on your personal circumstances. You'll want to consider how much insurance you need, and the deductible too (your portion of an insured loss), as this will affect your premiums.
Your Service Specialist can help you consider the options and pick the one that's right for you.
Your insurance should at least cover:
- The cost to rebuild your home (often different from its market value — Guaranteed Replacement Cost coverage is available to protect you if the cost to rebuild is underestimated)
- The cost to replace your personal property
- Protection against liability claims

Make sure that you have enough life insurance to take care of your family if something happens to you. Guaranteed Life Insurance is a great way to make sure you are covered no matter what, as there’s no health questionnaire or approval process.
How does it work?
Guaranteed Life Insurance provides coverage with premiums that don’t increase with age. In fact, at age 100, coverage becomes premium free! You can choose the coverage limit to best fit your loved ones’ needs, and monthly automated bank payments make paying your premium affordable and convenient.
Getting into a severe accident is already a traumatic experience, but it could also have serious financial consequences. Make sure you and your family members are covered with Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance (AD&D).
How does it work?
AD&D provides tax-free funds if you or a family member dies or is injured in an insurable accident. AD&D can be added to a Term Life Insurance policy, to provide extra coverage in the event of an accident.
The loss of a loved one shouldn’t be made worse by worrying about finances. Make sure that you have enough life insurance to help support your family if something happens to you. Term Life Insurance gives you coverage for a set amount of time, with an affordable premium. Even if you already have life insurance through another plan, you can top-up your coverage with Term Life Insurance.
How much life insurance do I need?
You can choose how much life insurance coverage to apply for, to reflect your loved ones’ needs. It is recommended that you and your spouse are both covered by an amount of life insurance equal to at least five times your annual income.
The RTEOERO Group Insurance Program is designed and managed by education sector retirees who understand what you need at each stage of your retirement. You can choose the coverage you need from a range of plans: Extended Health Care, Supplemental Travel, Dental Plan, and Hospital and Convalescent Care.
How do I apply for RTOERO Health Insurance?
The first step is to become an RTOERO member, and then you can complete the insurance application. Remember to start your application before you retire - if you apply within 60 days of your previous group insurance ending, you’ll be automatically approved for your insurance without the need for additional medical information.
